That is not the only change announced by PokerStars. Saying that 'the experience of opening a Chest isn't as meaningful as it could be' (of course, instead of a Porsche now you get a lovely chest for your efforts), additional modifications will be performed during 2019:
- The chest opening frequency will be reduced by 3, increasing the value of the rewards in a similar factor (fewer chests, largest prizes in other words);
- The boost feature will be removed (after this, there is no way to get chests at a higher rate);
- The players will be allowed to exchange a 'chest in progress' for a reward if they fail to complete the requirements;
- The requirements for moving up and down the 6 chests levels will change: 10 chests will be required on a 28-day period.

This is not shocking, even the last month PokerStars reduced the buy-in of the popular millionaire tournament Sunday Million by half, but increased the overall rake collected by 20% (the buy-in was reduced from $200+$15 to $100+$9, doing the math before they collected $75,000 in rake and now $90,000).
